Movie Review: Pele - Birth Of A Legend (PG)

For many, Pele is the greatest footballer of all time.

But do we know how he became famous and how he helped make soccer such a beautiful game?

This biopic about the Brazilian icon has everything you need to know about Pele, from his humble beginnings to how, at 17, he became the youngest goal-scorer at the 1958 World Cup.

It's a by-the-numbers film that seeks to celebrate the sporting legend.

But, a film like this risks becoming a propaganda project.

Thankfully, the actors who play Pele - Leonardo Lima Carvalho as kid Pele and Kevin de Paula as young Pele - are so genuine and have such nifty footwork that they make the proceedings fun and beautiful.
