Movie Review: War Dogs (M18)

How can one be so loathsome and compelling at the same time?

Jonah Hill is just that.

Yet his swagger, that attitude and his conniving ways are what war comedy War Dogs needs.

The story, though true, is preposterous.

How could two 20-somethings become millionaire international arms dealers in the short span of a few years?

Hill is Efraim Diveroli, who ropes in Miles Teller's David Packouz to help expand his business in reselling seized weapons to the US military. The duo soon get greedy, and decide to bid on a US$300 million (S$410 million) US military contract, which leads to their downfall.

Director Todd Phillips (The Hangover trilogy, Due Date) doesn't give us anything out of the ordinary.

While Teller does a decent job as the straight guy and the chemistry between him and Hill is commendable, it is Hill who carries the hefty load.
