Star Trek actor killed by own car

Tributes have been pouring in from the cast and crew of the Star Trek films following the death on Sunday of US actor Anton Yelchin, who played Pavel Chekov in the reboots since 2009.

US director J.J. Abrams, who helmed 2009's Star Trek and 2013's Star Trek Into Darkness, told Entertainment Weekly that the 27-year-old was a "little brother", and that the team were "shocked and numb and devastated by the world's loss of an extraordinary young man".

US actor Zachary Quinto, who played Spock, wrote on Instagram: "Our dear friend, our comrade, our Anton... wise beyond his years, and gone before his time."

US actor John Cho, who sat beside Yelchin as pilot Hikaru Sulu in the films, wrote on Twitter: "I loved Anton Yelchin so much... He was a great pal and a great son. I'm in ruins."

Yelchin was killed in a freak car accident.

After he got out of his car on the steep driveway of his home in Los Angeles, it rolled backwards and pinned him against a brick wall and security fence. He died from the trauma.

He will be seen in his Star Trek role in the upcoming film Star Trek Beyond, which opens here on July 21.

Iggy Azalea breaks up with Nick Young

Iggy Azalea has broken up with US basketball player Nick Young.

The 26-year-old Australian rapper announced the news three months after her 31-year-old fiance, who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, allegedly revealed he was cheating on her.

Azalea wrote on Instagram last Sunday: "Unfortunately, although I love Nick and I have tried and tried to rebuild my trust in him - it's become apparent in the last few weeks I am unable to."

That same day, Young simply tweeted: "Single."

The couple had been dating since 2013 and announced their engagement last June.

Kim Kardashian defends West in feud with Swift

Things are heating up in the ongoing feud between Taylor Swift and Kanye West.

The 26-year-old US singer and the US rapper's reality TV star wife Kim Kardashian are embroiled in a dispute over whether West had permission to refer to Swift as a "b****" in his track Famous.

Kardashian told GQ last week that Swift had approved the lyrics during a phone call to West, but later appeared to feign ignorance and offence in order to "play the victim again".

Last Sunday, UK tabloid The Sun unveiled a legal letter in which Swift's lawyers ordered West to destroy the tape of the chat.

A source close to West said: "It validates that a taped conversation where Taylor was on board with the song does exist, and just shows how worried she is about the truth coming out."
