DESIIGNER - TIIMMY TURNER
There's something strangely mechanical about the US hip hop artist's latest single.
The strong electronic tune is uneasy when it creeps into Desiigner's voice, making him sound more robotic than hypnotic.
The song is at its best when the music tones down and he finally sounds clear and uninhibited. Unfortunately, we only get that in the final moments.
MAJOR LAZER (FEAT. JUSTIN BIEBER AND MØ) - COLD WATER
This is what hitting the bull's eye sounds like.
Backed by a simple yet addictive pop track by US trio Major Lazer, Canadian pop star Bieber sounds effortlessly velvety, while Danish singer MØ also fits perfectly with the track's cool vibe.
This is one of the more memorable summer anthems of the year.
ENRIQUE IGLESIAS (FEAT. TINASHE AND JAVADA) - DUELE EL CORAZON (ENGLISH VERSION)
Most Latin tracks lose a portion of their magic when they are re-released in English, but this version of Duele El Corazon soars and is even more enjoyable than the Spanish original.
Featuring a mixture of English and Spanish, it also boasts a lovely bilingual performance by US singer Tinashe set against Spanish singer Iglesias' groovy vocals.
The original is great, but this is magic. - Deborah Wee
