Robert Downey Jr's son arrested
Actor Robert Downey Jr’s son was arrested Sunday in West Hollywood after being found with cocaine.
Indio Falconer Downey, the 20-year-old son of the Iron Man actor, was arrested after a police officer drove up alongside the vehicle he was in and noticed a passenger smoking something out of a pipe, according to TMZ.
Indio - a musician and actor who appeared in 2005's Kiss Kiss Bang Bang with his dad - posted bail of US$10,250 (S$12,800) and was released shortly after midnight. He has a court date set for Aug 29.
The elder Downey struggled with his own drug addiction in the 80s and 90s.
In a statement, papa Downey said he believes his son likely has a genetic predisposition to addiction.
"There is a lot of family support and understanding, and we’re all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he’s capable of being," Downey Jr said.
"We’re grateful to the Sheriff's department for their intervention and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale."
Last year, Mail Online reported that the younger Downey had entered into treatment for a dependency on prescription medications.
He is Robert Downey Jr’s only child with his first wife, Deborah Falconer. The pair were married from 1992 to 2004.
