Steven Seagal plays blues show in Crimea
What's with has-been celebs finding friends among political bad boys?
Like good friend of North Korea Dennis Rodman, 80s action star Steven Seagal has been making some interesting friends in his free time.
The US actor, who is friends with Russian president Vladimir Putin, performed with his blues band on Saturday night (Aug 9) in the Black Sea port city of Sevastopol.
The group performed at a concert organised by a motorcycle gang of Russian nationalists known as the Night Wolves, according to an Associated Press report quoting RIA Novosti, one of the largest news agencies in Russia.
The Night Wolves are reported to have close links with the Russian president.
Seagal, 62, was allegedly handed a shirt with Putin's face on it, which he held aloft as he thanked the crowd, New York Daily News reported.
In a March interview with a Russian newspaper, Seagal, who says he considers Putin a brother, was quoted as saying that the Russian president’s desire to protect Russians in Crimea was "completely reasonable".
He added that he "doesn’t rule out eventually seeking Russian citizenship in addition to his US citizenship".
