Taiwanese actor Darren Wang, 33, who starred in the hit 2015 movie Our Times, has been arrested over his alleged involvement in an attempted murder case.

He is also being investigated for allegedly attempting to evade mandatory military service.

According to Taiwanese news outlets, prosecutors discovered messages on his seized phone that showed him bragging about organising an attack on a private-hire driver.

In April 2024, Wang had reportedly booked a private-hire vehicle but was dissatisfied with the vehicle's quality.

He had claimed the driver took an unnecessary route during the ride, which led to an argument between them.

He later shared the incident with a friend who allegedly then enlisted the help of an acquaintance to track and assault the driver.

According to Set News, the "associates" attacked the driver on April 25, 2024, and reported their "success" to Wang, who in turn boasted about it to his other friends.

Wang and another man were detained after the messages came to light.

Prosecutors recommended charges of attempted murder.

Just last month, Wang was detained by the authorities after allegedly evading mandatory military service and is also reportedly under investigation for the alleged forgery of a medical document.

Wang made his acting debut in the 2008 television series Mysterious Incredible Terminator.

He shot into fame with the 2015 film Our Times, and has starred in multiple films and television series over the years.

He has also received several awards, such as GQ's Man of the Year for his role in Our Times.
