Prepare to grab tissues to wipe your tears from laughter and sadness for the fourth time because Toy Story 4 is coming out in 2017!

We all thought it was over when Andy gave his beloved toys away at the end of Toy Story 3 but nope!

Walt Disney Co said on Thursday it will extend one of Pixar's most successful film franchises by making a fourth movie, to be directed by John Lasseter.

"John created Toy Story and directed its first two films and it's great to have him back directing one of our most valuable properties," Disney chief executive Bob Iger said.

Iger called 2010's Toy Story 3 a "tremendous success" with more than US$1 billion at the global box office and US$10 billion in retail sales.

Toy Story was the first feature film made by Pixar Animation Studios, in 1995, and gave the famous animated characters Woody, the toy cowboy, and space ranger Buzz Lightyear a prominent place in pop culture.

The first installment made US$362 million (S$469 million) at the global box office, while Toy Story 2 brought in US$485 million.

With that much success, it's no wonder the creators made the call to give it another go.

And honestly, bringing Toy Story back would make a lot of people happy. Especially those in their twenties like me who grew up with it. *waves hands*
