Just like how the characters on the show Descendants Of The Sun received news of a volcano eruption in the last scene, the series' ending was equally abrupt.

But die-hard fans Wenny Peng and Celestine Wong found it satisfactory anyway.

Miss Peng, 26, a fresh graduate, stayed up all night to catch the finale as soon as it was available on the Viu app yesterday at about 5am.

She has been doing the same thing every Thursday and Friday morning for the past seven weeks while Descendants was airing.

Rating the finale an 8 out of 10, Miss Peng told The New Paper: "Even though the storyline had a few deaths, I'm happy that (everything ended well)."

She won a contest organised by streaming service Viu and was invited to the show's press conference on April 5 in Hong Kong, where she got to meet Descendants Of The Sun stars Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo.

WINNER

Miss Peng said: "It's not every day that you get to fly to another country to meet your idols. It was an interesting experience."

Miss Wong, 22, a part-time management support officer, was the other winner. She gave the final episode a perfect 10 score.

She said: "Only when I saw Song Joong Ki go up on stage to introduce himself did I realise, 'Wow, I'm really here in Hong Kong right now, seeing him'."

Miss Wong plans to binge-watch the entire drama this weekend, even though she has watched some episodes several times.

Descendants fan Angela Sim, 19, who is waiting to enter university, felt the finale was "normal".

She said she would have liked a timeskip so that viewers could get a peek into the future of the leading couple.

Saying that she felt sad that the series was over, she added: "I feel quite empty, like there's nothing to look forward to next week."

But here's good news for her and other fans: From April 21, there will be a three-part Descendants special on viu.com and the Viu app.
