Zeta-Jones was 'a mess' due to husband's cancer
She spoke courageously of her experience during a medical conference in New York.
Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones admitted that she was "a mess" after her husband, Michael Douglas, was diagnosed with stage four tongue cancer in 2010.
He was misdiagnosed, "not once, not twice, but three times", reported Mail Online.
Speaking to about 3,000 doctors at the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncologic Societies' fifth World Congress opening ceremony on Sunday, the 44-year-old Zeta-Jones explained: "I was a mess. I'll be quite frank, I was a mess.
"When I'm married to a man who has such a conviction for life...he fights to make the wrongs right. For the first time, he was fighting for his life."

The Beyond a Reasonable Doubt actor, 69, who has daughter Carys, 11, and son, Dylan, 13, with Zeta-Jones, was also present at the conference.
He told the gathering that "in every sense of the word, I'm very fortunate to be here today", reported E! Online.
Douglas has been cancer free since January 2011.
Praising the New York-based Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Douglas, who is set to play Dr. Hank Pym in the Marvel's upcoming Ant-Man movie, added: "We can only imagine what the next century will bring. Thank you for saving my life."
