When Ferlyn G ordered chicken wings at Wing Zone, she made sure they drizzled in thick sauce and were spicy.

The 24-year-old local singer, whose real name is Ferlyn Wong, is obsessed with chicken and spicy food.

She sat down with The New Paper on Monday at Wing Zone's Bugis+ outlet and said: "I'm a huge fan of chicken, but I don't like the breast meat as it is very dry. The chicken also has to be drenched with the sauce, rather than just being dry and salty."

Wong loves everything about a chicken, including its innards.

She said that she eats the heart and buttocks as they taste "quite unique".

"Some of my friends will be disgusted every time I eat them. I guess it's just the look of the innards," she said, laughing.

"I never knew that maple syrup could go with chicken wings. It tastes so good, and it's not overpowering at all."

Wong will be performing at this year's countdown concert, Rock On! 2017, along with other international artists like Rainie Yang, Alicia Keys and Hoobastank.

"I'm really excited but nervous at the same time because it's my first countdown as a solo artist.

"I used to do a countdown with (K-pop group) SKarf, but now I'm standing by myself on a huge stage with an awesome line-up. It's definitely pressurising, but I'm sure that I will enjoy it."

She added: "To be on the same stage with the international acts, I feel honoured. It's funny how things work in life as I used to work as (Rainie) Yang's backup dancer.

"Now, I'm a singer like her on the same stage, so it's very strange but encouraging. If you work hard, you will get somewhere."

How are you preparing for Rock On! 2017?

After I became a singer, I know that I needed to pay attention to my vocal cords and skin. I'm not on any diet. But I tend to avoid oily and fried food, except fries because, you know, I love fries.

Is there anything you avoid eating before going on stage?

I don't avoid any specific food before a concert, but I cannot go on stage with an empty stomach, just not too full.

For my concerts, I like to pump up the audience and run and dance around and to achieve that, I need to maintain my mood and to be hyper.

How do you keep such a good figure, especially for the concert?

This time, my performance will be different as I have changed my choreography, so I have been practising the routine almost every day and that helps me to exercise. I know I eat a lot, but I do eat the right amount, so it's just nice.
