$10k a month? Haidilao manager's pay shocks netizens
Haidilao's back in the spotlight, but this time it's not for viral dances - it's for a viral pay cheque.
A viral video posted two days ago featuring Haidilao trainee manager, Ronghui, from the Plaza Singapura branch, revealed he earns $10,000 a month.
Comments on the post mention that Ronghui reportedly has at least one day off per week, usually Wednesdays.
Many were stunned by his salary. One commenter quipped: "The moment you realised your server earns more than you."
Others expressed scepticism about the hefty sum, although one commenter argued it was "reasonable" given his experience.
Some netizens were more focused on Ronghui's appearance and eloquence, asking if he could serve them personally and declaring him "more handsome than all those Star Search guys."
Ronghui moved to Singapore from Fujian, China, 20 years ago, became a citizen, and has worked at the Haidilao Plaza Singapura location for six years.
He's been promoted to trainee store manager and currently reports to a store manager.
Haidilao Singapore told 8days that "this figure is an exception" and shouldn't be taken as a typical salary.
The company explained that Ronghui's pay reflects a specific combination of factors, including store location, specialised role and long working hours.
A job portal shows that the starting salary for a Haidilao manager is $4,244 per month, while a management trainee starts at $3,398.
