The couple behind the orh luak stall Lim's Fried Oyster at Berseh Food Centre have decided to retire come August.

The stall, which has been in business since 1977, is open only on Wednesdays to Sundays, from 6pm to midnight.

Mr Lin Weifa and his wife Pan Huiling, both 73, told Shin Min Daily News that there have been more customers than usual since they announced their plan to retire.

"Now that everyone has heard that I'm closing down, they've all come here," said Madam Pan on April 5.

"Our business has been especially good over the past two days."

She added that the food centre will be undergoing upgrading works in September, so end of August is a good time to close the stall for good.

Madam Pan said she and her husband did not want to wait for their health to deteriorate before they decided to retire.

"We often got home at 4am or 5am, fall asleep at 8am," she explained.

"We wake up at 4pm to prepare for the opening of the stall."

Thirty-year-old customer Chen said the orh luak at Lim's Fried Oyster was delicious and felt sad that the stall would be gone but she was happy for the elderly owners' retirement.
