Netflix Singapore raises fees for subscription plans again

Streaming giant Netflix has upped the fees of its subscription plans in Singapore once more, following its last price hike just over a year ago.

The increase ranges from $2 to $4 across different plans. Those on the Basic plan previously paying $13.98 now have to pay $15.98, while subscribers of the Standard plan will pay $22.98, up from $19.98.

Premium users are subject to the biggest price increase, with fees going up to $29.98 from $25.98.

In a statement shared with The Straits Times on April 23, Netflix Singapore said: "We offer a range of prices and plans to meet a variety of needs, and as we deliver more value to our members, we occasionally ask them to pay a bit more. We're adjusting prices in Singapore, with memberships starting at $15.98."

Standard and Premium users can use Netflix simultaneously on more than one device, and share the plan across households. They enjoy higher resolution videos compared with subscribers on the Basic plan.

Netflix launched in Singapore in January 2016. At the time, prices for Basic, Standard and Premium plans were $10.98, $13.98 and $16.98 respectively. They have since gone through several rounds of price increases - in January 2020, October 2021 and February 2024.

The streaming service is known for original series such as American science-fiction series Stranger Things (2016 to present), hit K-drama Squid Game (2021 to present) and popular British crime drama Adolescence (2025).

It is also known for distributing acclaimed movies such as Alfonso Cuaron's Roma (2018), which won the Mexican film-maker Best Director at the Oscars, as well as the controversial musical movie Emilia Perez (2024), which bagged Zoe Saldana the Best Supporting Actress trophy.
