Prince William hosts a star-studded gala dinner at Windsor Castle
The extravagant event featured an A-lister guest list including Kate Moss, Helena Bonham Carter, Emma Watson, Cate Blanchett, Zhang Ziyi, Benedict Cumberbatch and Cara Delevingne.
When the Queen gave him permission to use her 900-year-old royal fortress for a gala dinner to celebrate the work of The Royal Marsden, the Duke of Cambridge certainly did not spare the glitter as he compiled an extravagant star-studded A-lister guest list which welcomed Kate Moss, Helena Bonham Carter, Cate Blanchett, Zhang Ziyi, Benedict Cumberbatch and Cara Delevingne.
However, there was a bright spark that was missing from the room - some would even call her Britain's biggest fashion icon - the Duchess of Cambridge, was reportedly left at home tending the baby.
Her decision to stay in with 10-month-old Prince George was part of the couple's strategy, which begun a few months ago, of maintaining a focus on their own individual charity patronage and dividing their duties so they can be present at more events.
He apologised to the fashion mogul for the Duchess' absence, quipping, "You probably would far rather see my wife."
There, the Prince rubbed elbows with the stars and chatted with designer, Ralph Lauren, who announced his plans to fund a new breast cancer center at the hospital.
"It's a wonderful thing you're backing," William told the fashion mogul...It will be another great addition to the hospital."
He also apologised for the Duchess' absence, quipping, "You probably would far rather see my wife."
In Lauren's honor, many celebrity guests were dressed head-to-toe in his designs.
Harry Potter alum Watson, for example, wore a Ralph Lauren Collection silk jersey skirt and blouse, which she paired with a simple clutch and white belt while Blanchett was regal in a Ralph Lauren Collection ivory silk cady gown with an asymmetrical neckline.
