Scarlett Johansson's perfect nose

Looking for the ideal nose? New research by plastic surgeons has come up with a magical figure.

The perfect nose must have a required upturn of 106 degrees at the nasal tip, reported Mail Online.

According to this measure, Scarlett Johansson, The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel all have the ultimate nose. 

The study was published online in JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery journal on Thursday.

The Duchess of Cambridge has the perfect nose.

One of the researchers, Dr Omar Ahmed from New York University, said: "To our knowledge this is the first population-based study to attempt to simultaneously determine the ideal NTP - nasal tip projection - and rotation.

"Throughout history artists and scholars have been engrossed in the pursuit of capturing what constitutes beauty."

"Dating back to ancient Egypt artists idealised facial proportions in their works."

English beauty Kate Beckinsale's nose is also said to be ideal.

The researchers asked nearly 4,000 men and women between 18 and 25 years to rank digital portraits of young white women in the same age group. 

They were asked to compare photos of women with noses 96, 101, 106, 111 and 116 degrees to their face.

"A rotation of 106 degrees was found to be the most aesthetic," Dr Ahmed said, reported the Express.

Justin Timberlake must be delighted that his wife, American actress Jessica Biel, has the perfect nose.

Not for everyone

But the ideal nose may not be for everybody. 

Dr Charles East of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons said a customised look for each individual is more important than sticking to a textbook formula.

The consultant surgeon added ​that patients do ask for Johansson’s nose. 

"But the commonest request is to look like Kim Kardashian," he said.
