Exciting collections to spice up your home and more

IKEA

Marking the 70th birthday of the Ikea Catalogue, the Swedish furniture retailer has launched the 2021 edition that inspires people to lead better lives at home amid the pandemic.

It is packed with how-tos, smart tips, hands-on ideas and small affordable shifts, and many exciting new collections to help create flexible and multifunctional spaces for ever-changing needs.

The catalogue is available at Ikea stores and ikea.sg/e-catalogue and is also distributed to selected homes across Singapore.

Ikea is also introducing a record number of 268 Even Lower Price products to increase the affordability of home furnishing products, and in collaboration with Sonos, is presenting the first products in the Symfonisk range ($179 to $299) that offer some of the best-sounding furniture pieces.

And from Oct 12, the Ikea restaurant will be introducing the Plant Ball dish, a sustainable and meatless alternative to Ikea's iconic meatball. Made with plant derived ingredients, it is equally tasty yet leaves behind a climate footprint that's only four per cent of its meat counterpart.

SINGAPORE SPORTS HUB

To help people get active outdoors while following safe management guidelines, the fully integrated sports, entertainment and lifestyle hub has curated a list of beginner-friendly activities available for all to enjoy with friends and family.

Head for the Water Sports Centre and rent a kayak or canoe and make a splash in the Kallang Basin, or try lawn bowling at the sprawling 34m by 18m green space on the roof of the Singapore Sports Museum.

Alternatively, go rock climbing in air-conditioned comfort at Kallang Wave Mall's Climb Central. Only a maximum of 48 people are allowed into the facility at any one time and climbers will be restricted to alternate lanes so as to maintain safe distancing.

Fitness enthusiasts will also be thrilled to know that community programmes have returned, with an array of new offerings.

From Cardio Dance to SuperFit Power Intense and Cardio Blast, get your heart pumping with Garmin's exhilarating dance and high-intensity training sports sessions. Or wind down after a long day of work-from-home with SuperFit Power Yoga and Keep Fit Taiji Wellness, or get in touch with nature with SuperTrail.

With just two people on each team, beach volleyball - unlike regular volleyball, which has six - may be one of the best sports to engage in with safe distancing measures. The volleyball courts at Sports Hub are free for the public to book.
