Uncle Roger shows off Aunty Sabrina in engagement photos

Uncle Roger is tying the knot.

The Malaysian comedian, food entrepreneur and YouTuber Nigel Ng is better known by his online alter ego Uncle Roger. He shared his engagement photos in a joint post with his fiancee, known only as Sabrina, on Instagram on March 18.

The 34-year-old, now based in Los Angeles, revealed on a November episode of his podcast Haiyaa With Nigel Ng that he proposed in Japan during cherry blossom season in April 2024. The recent pictures are from their pre-wedding photo shoot, which were taken at Taipei's markets and local food spots.

This is Ng's second marriage. He had said on his podcast that he is a divorcee, though details about his ex-wife are not known.

Sabrina gave a shout-out to their photographer in the caption of the post. "Thank you, Karren Kao, for bringing our vision to life and being so supportive throughout the process (even going shopping with us to find outfits and comforting me while I cried in the bridal shop)."

In the pictures, the couple go through several sets of outfits. One set sees the bride-to-be sporting a sleeveless midi-length white dress with a veil decorated with bows, while Ng wears a white T-shirt with a black blazer and black pants. In another, she is wearing a brown dress while he is in a short-sleeved button-down shirt.

The pictures were taken in and around Taiwanese markets. They feature the couple sitting in front of a street food stall, sharing ice cream at a claw machine arcade, posing under a shop sign that says "cute" in Chinese and in front of a fruit juice store. One photo shows them in front of a lingerie and sex toy shop.

Ng went viral in 2020 for critiquing a BBC Food video on cooking egg fried rice using the persona of Uncle Roger, a middle-aged Asian man with an exaggerated Cantonese accent who uses catchphrases like "haiyaa" and "fuiyoh".

He had a stand-up comedy tour from 2022 to 2023, which included a stop in Singapore in June 2022. It has since been released as a stand-up comedy special on American streaming platform Hulu.

He also has a chain of five fried rice restaurants, Fuiyoh! It's Uncle Roger, in Malaysia.
