Tendon Kohaku has unveiled a new creation - Hokkaido Autumn Tendon with Cheese ($17), available from Sept 16. The bowl has two pieces of salmon (covered in layers of Hokkaido cheese and tempura), dory fish and prawns, with ingredients such as maple leaf and chestnut. It will be available at all outlets (Boat Quay, Chinatown Point and Suntec City).
TaiGai - a tea chain from China - has opened its first overseas outlet at Nex (B2-34). The hit is the Fruity Milky Kiss series (from $6.20), with pulp of blended fruits mixed into tea and covered with a cheesy milk foam. It comes in three flavours: strawberry, pineapple and black grape. The drink is served without a straw.
Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre's new executive chef Ken Chaw has created a semi-buffet dinner at Window on the Park (Tel: 6733-8333) from Mondays to Thursdays, with a main of a Surf 'n' Turf dish and free flow of appetisers, soup and desserts. It is at $80 a person, with a one-for-one promotion. Pioneer Generation cardholders pay $35 a person.
Did you know that Ellenborough Market Cafe (Tel: 6239-1847/1848) was named after Ellenborough Market, a former Teochew enclave? So it makes sense that this month, the restaurant is running a Teochew cuisine promotion ($68) to celebrate its heritage. Expect all the classic dishes, with highlights such as cold crab and steamed pomfret.
