You won't believe the top jobs WoW landed this man
Would you put your gaming history in your resume?
Mr Stephen Gillett did - and he's now the chief operating officer of computer security firm Symantec.
While he has other relevant qualifications on his CV, Mr Gillett also included his achievements from popular online role-playing game (RPG) World of Warcraft (WoW).
In an interview with CNN Money, Mr Gillett said that listing out his virtual achievements in such a game lets potential employers see his leadership qualities in real life and in cyberspace.
As a WoW guild master, Mr Gillett has to manage his team during raids and spot the best players to recruit - traits that certainly come in handy in the real world.
The listing on his resume helped Mr Gillett land a job with image company Corbis before he was hired by Starbucks to be the company's chief information officer in 2008.
Gaming experience
Using his gaming experience, he helped transform the coffee giant's interaction with their customers by introducing a gamified rewards programme, which has proven to be hugely successful.
Now COO with Symantec, Mr Gillett intends to continue on the same path by applying his expertise on the company's internal processes before possibly extending it to customers.
So next time mum asks you to stop playing a video game, tell her you're busy filling up your future resume.
