New mum Emily Blunt is back in full bloom and making the competition this past week look like a bunch of weeds
EMILY BLUNT (A-)
Premiere of The Girl On The Train in London
Gown: Alexander McQueen
What a way to make her post-baby comeback and kick-start what could potentially be an awards season streak. Newly blonde and totally bangin', Blunt is a vision in this striking, heavily embellished kaleidoscope of colours and florals.
LUPITA NYONG'O (B+)
Premiere of Queen Of Katwe in Los Angeles
Gown: Elie Saab
This luscious lavender gown with rainbow trim is pretty enough, but it's the matching head wrap that's giving me life and elevating everything to an almost royal level.
HALEY BENNETT (C)
Premiere of The Girl On The Train in London
Gown: Valentino
Formidable bosom aside, this is surely more apt as a Renaissance fair costume. I'm half expecting her to serve up a mug of mead or a Musketeer to swoop in.
LILY-ROSE DEPP (D)
Chanel Dinner Celebrating No. 5 L'Eau in Los Angeles
Jacket: Chanel
Overrated doesn't even begin to describe Johnny Depp's teen daughter and new Chanel muse. It takes a special skill set to transform a pricey embellished jacket from the fashion house - by pairing it with a bare tummy and tacky low-slung leather pants - into the cheapest thing ever.
MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL (F)
Premiere of The Magnificent Seven in New York City
Dress: Sally LaPointe
I fed my babies zucchini-broccoli pureed infant food in the exact same shade as her olive ensemble, and I swear the former appeared more appetising. This is just droopy, drab and downright depressing.
WHO WORE IT BETTER?
LILY JAMES VS VICKI ZHAO
Burberry show during London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2017 in London, Sept 19
Burberry show during London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2017 in London, Sept 19
These two are essentially togged in the same glorified geometric-print bathrobes from Burberry, just in different colours. Zhao's blue-green version is an outright farce that just hangs off her, especially since she inexplicably throws extra mismatched pieces into the mix. James, in purple, easily wins this round with her simpler, cinched-in styling. Still, this pyjama party remains one big snooze.
