School of frock: Floral flubs

The fashion action was mostly in France this week, with Paris Fashion Week in full swing. But nothing much was making me go c'est magnifique, says JEANMARIE TAN

NATASHA POLY (A-)

amfAR (The Foundation for Aids Research) dinner at Paris Fashion Week in Paris, France

Gown: Atelier Versace

Too bad JLo didn't manage to get her hands on this gorgeous Oscar-worthy embellished nude gown first. Not that she could possibly bring the same amount of elegance to it as the Russian model.

CARA DELEVINGNE (B)

Paper Towns premiere in Melbourne, Australia

Dress: Dion Lee

Shoes: Saint Laurent

I am biased towards anything teal, the circle-cut overlay keeps things interesting and weirdly enough, her conjunctivitis eyeshadow is working too.

KRISTEN STEWART (B-)

Chanel Fall/Winter 2015/2016 fashion show in Paris, France

Pantsuit: Chanel

So boxy black velvet pantsuits are not just for Hillary Clinton and any self-respecting tai-tai. It's just shocking how much edge and attitude Stewart is adding to this wardrobe staple for the over-50 set.

ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY (C)

Gown: Atelier Versace

Here's yet another example of a poor celebrity who made it to the red carpet despite being attacked by a wild animal en route. Bravo, Rosie! Now go change.

JESSICA ALBA (D)

Giambattista Valli 2015-2016 Fall/Winter 2015/2016 fashion show in Paris, France

Dress: Giambattista Valli

Boots: Stuart Weitzman

Nope, not even a beauty like Alba can get away with power-clashing such ugly patterns. But to inexplicably pair the shift dress with thigh-high black suede boots in the summer heat is just dumb.

RITA ORA (F)

Chanel Fall/Winter 2015/2016 fashion show in Paris, France

Jacket and skirt: Chanel

Ora has that special ability to cheapen any couture she puts on, turning it into possibly the tackiest thing. On paper, this silver velvet tux-inspired ensemble should scream luxe. But here, it's just making me scream.

WHO WORE IT BETTER?

KARLIE KLOSS V DOUTZEN KROES

Both at The amfAR dinner at Paris Fashion Week in Paris, France on July 5

Both models went straight from the Atelier Versace runway show to the red carpet, togged in the new collection which is all flowy chiffon, unfinished hemlines, exposed boning, cut-outs, floral crowns and of course, obscene amounts of double-sided tape.

Cosplaying A Midsummer Night's Dream isn't my idea of high fashion, but Kloss gets the win based on colour alone.

MOST IMPROVED

OLIVIA PALERMO

Rarely have I seen the fashionista look so drab - and in bright marigold, no less. Those creases are a crime for one. Did no one tell Palermo it needed a good steaming before being taken out for a spin? Luckily, she bounced back to her cute, chic self a day later, styling up a storm with those yummy accessories.

SPECIAL MAN-TION

PRINCE GEORGE

CHRISTENING OF PRINCESS CHARLOTTE IN SANDRINGHAM, ENGLAND

Outfit: Rachel Riley

Okay, so he's not technically a man yet. But how can anyone resist the cherubic royal tot in his adorable red-and-white set? Consider all the real men blown out of the water this week by the power of those cheeks alone.

"You only get a certain amount of flair points, and you can’t spend too many points on one outfit. so if you’re gonna wear a hat, that’s most of your flair points. Or if you’re just gonna wear jeans and a T-shirt, you can go nuts with the boots."
