More than 4,000 join Ah Boys To Men stars in mass dance
More than 4,000 people got their feet moving at a carnival last Saturday, ending the nationwide dance movement Got to Move with a bang.
The dance movement, organised by the National Arts Council, was an inaugural affair that aimed to make dance accessible to the masses and showcase works of the local dance community.
Saturday's carnival was held at The Promontory @ Marina Bay. Participants were kept occupied with activities such as free dance classes.
But what got the crowd excited was the mass dance segment featuring Ah Boys To Men cast Bunz, Tosh Zhang, and Wang Weiliang. Even Minister of Culture, Community and Youth Grace Fu joined in the fun.
She said, speaking on the sidelines of the event: "Wonderful to see Singaporeans getting into the swing of things at Got To Move.
"Dance is gaining popularity and we want to see it growing further. It is a process of self expression and discovery of talents. Dance transcends language and is a great way to bond people of different ages and races."
Got to Move, organised in celebration of SG50, will become an annual affair, to the delight of participants like engineer Cherlyn Teo, who was at the carnival with friends.
Ms Teo, 25, said: "I liked the opportunity for the public to dance and hope that it can be bigger next year.
"We tried a few of the classes and it allowed us to try some new dance forms. "
