Game of Thrones villain releases album

To many, Iwan Rheon is a psychopath and a torturer.

In the hit series Game Of Thrones he plays Ramsay Bolton, a grubby, wild-eyed sadist who takes great delight in flaying and dismembering his victims alive. 

Out of character, Rheon is a more gentle soul. 

On Monday (April 20), he released his first full-length album, Dinard.

A mostly acoustic album, just Rheon and his guitar, the album is in the same vein as the quieter moments of his key musical influences Super Furry Animals and Oasis.

The 29-year-old has been writing songs since he was 16 and has three EPs under his belt.

The Welsh actor/singer-songwriter told The Independent: "I wrote and recorded the album over the course of filming seasons four and five of (Game of) Thrones." 

One review describes it as an "absolute gem"  but it may not mean a complete career change for Rheon.

In an interview with Wales Online he said: "I have no ambitions to be a pop star. I just want my music out there, not shoved in peoples faces."

He added that this venture is still more of a hobby and that he does not want "to put any pressure on the music".

Speaking to The Independent, he is sure that his mum would prefer seeing him in concert rather than seeing his character on Game Of Thrones.

"I don't think she should (watch) – no matter what, she always sees her little boy. Seeing me being a complete b******, chopping off someone's manhood, it would upset her." 

Thankfully, Rheon's singing voice does not sound anything like that rasp that sends chills down our collective spines when he's on screen as Ramsay.

So if you can't bring yourself to like him because of the horrible things he has done as Ramsay Bolton, maybe his soothing vocals will change your mind.
