Schwarzenegger replaces Trump on Celebrity Apprentice

The Presidential hopeful has been replaced by the former governor of California and long-running Terminator.

Donald Trump had been the host of The Apprentice and its spin-off, Celebrity Apprentice, since 2004.

BBC reported that Arnold Schwarzenegger will take his place next year after Trump and US TV network NBC parted ways due to Trump's derogatory remarks about immigrants while on the campaign trail.

Schwarzenegger has returned to acting since he left office in 2011.

An NBC press release said that Schwarzenegger was a good fit for the show even though he is not a billionaire like Trump.

"Schwarzenegger managed more than 300,000 state employees and a state budget in the hundreds of billions.

"He has successfully invested in both real estate and sports franchises, and is known to millions globally for his starring role in the Terminator film franchise.

"His films, over a six-decade career, have grossed billions of dollars in worldwide box office."

Schwarzenegger himself is delighted about his new show, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

In a statement, he said: "I have always been a huge fan of The Celebrity Apprentice and the way it showcases the challenges and triumphs of business and teamwork.

"I am thrilled to bring my experience to the boardroom and to continue to raise millions for charity. Let's get started!"

A gracious Trump also congratulated Schwarzenegger for replacing him on the show.

The Celebrity Apprentice works in much the same way as the non-celebrity version. Contestants work in teams to perform various tasks while employing a business model that promotes teamwork.

Rather than the promise of a new job, the venture hopefully ends with a financially successful outcome that all goes to charity.

The fascination of the contest — rather than teamwork and "gruelling" challenges — is often the ego clashes and tantrums of the lower level celebrities.

Each tasks will end in the boardroom, where contestants must account for their business decisions. A member of the losing team is then ejected from the show.

No word yet on if Trump's catchphrase of "You're fired!" will be replaced with "You're terminated!".
