Actor who plays Chewbacca invited Star Wars fan's widow to his home
In November, thanks to a viral social media campaign, Mr Daniel Fleetwood, a Star Wars fan who had terminal spindle cell sarcoma, was granted his dying wish — to see The Force Awakens before he died.
After support from both the saga's original and new cast, he was given a very special early screening. He passed away a week later, aged 32.
But the Fleetwood family hasn't been forgotten.
As a Christmas gift, Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew invited Daniel's widow, Ashley, to his Texas home. Mayhew's home also houses a museum to his Wookiee alter-ego.
Ashley told Entertainment Tonight: "When Daniel was sick, they actually Skyped him. It was so sweet and amazing. They invited us to visit, but he was unable to travel.
"After he passed, they extended the invitation again. So I asked if, for my dad's 60th birthday, if we could maybe visit. They said yes and were so welcoming."
Mayhew even posted a Facebook update and uploaded photos of the Fleetwoods' visit.
