Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner divorcing after 10 years of marriage
So it's true.
There's no such thing as everlasting love in Hollywood.
It's really sad to learn that A-list couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are splitting up after spending a decade together as husband and wife.
Both confirmed the end of their marriage with a statement on Tuesday (June 30), just a day after celebrating their 10th anniversary.
“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce,” they said in a joint statement.
“We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time.
"This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding.”
Affleck and Garner's fairy-tale romance began in 2004. They started dating after working together on two films, 2001’s Pearl Harbor and 2003’s Daredevil. They exchanged vows in 2005.
While their marriage has been the subject of much speculation in recent years, both have shot down rumours of an impending break-up.
Sources told E! News that "things have been very challenging for the last several months, and both have been living separate lives and preparing for this for a long time".
The reason why they stayed together was "because of the kids".
Affleck, 42, and Garner, 43, have three children together: Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3.
E! News reported that the duo has been in therapy and working on their marriage for two years.
They have also been on a trial separation for 10 months, during which time Affleck has been staying at hotels.
Fans of Ben-and-Jen are mourning the break-up as their marriage was one of the most treasured relationships in Hollywood.
And in the Twitterverse right now, love is officially dead.
