Movie Review: Minions (PG)
How much more of these yellow, gibberish animated critters can we take?
I'm still on the fence on whether the Minions warrant a spin-off. Yes, they are adorable, cute and hilarious but an entire movie devoted to them is excessive.
Thankfully, like the earlier Despicable Me movies, the bad guys save the day.
Here, Scarlet Overkill (voiced by Sandra Bullock) is such an awesome and cool supervillain, it's a no-brainer why the evil boss-seeking Minions want to wait on her hand and foot.
She makes Gru - before he became a reformed father - look like a total amateur when it comes to being bad. She also has a sympathetic backstory that reveals what turned her to the dark side.
The three main Minions - Kevin, Stuart and Bob - are sweet and offer enough hijinks to keep fans happy.
As for how these single-celled organisms evolved into the denim overall-wearing creatures, all is already answered in the movie's trailer.
