Movie Review: Twenty (NC16)
I love coming-of-age films, be it Fast Times At Ridgemont High or The Breakfast Club.
It is always a rollicking ride seeing teenagers painfully make their transition into adulthood.
Korean comedy Twenty is right up there with the classics.
The story about three best buddies is cliched but charming - nerdy college freshman Kyeong Jae (Kang Ha Neul), aspiring cartoonist Dong Woo (Lee Jun Ho) and perennial slacker Chi Ho (Kim Woo Bin) turn 20 and find themselves experiencing different matters of the heart, from unrequited love to embarrassing rejection.
K-drama fans will find Kim and Kang familiar, as both were in hit TV series The Heirs.
Here, they put in compelling performances that should seal the actors' places as Korean cinema's fastest-rising young stars.
Rating: 4/5
