Watch: Michael Fassbender takes on Steve Jobs
From the looks of this trailer, the new Steve Jobs biopic is going to be big at the Oscars.
Maybe it's the Oscar-winners and nominees involved.
Also, it's an epic, a genre Oscar loves.
Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) is behind the camera, directing Michael Fassbender as Apple founder Steve Jobs in the movie of the same name.
The story, written by The Social Network's Aaron Sorkin and based on Walter Isaacson's 2011 best-selling biography, follows Jobs through a trio of product launches and ends with the iMac's 1998 debut.
It also explores Jobs' estranged relationship with daughter Lisa.
The enigmatic tech pioneer may be hailed as a genius but judging from the trailer, he can be a horrible boss.
"What do you do?" co-founder Steve Wozniak (Seth Rogen) asks his business partner.
"You're not an engineer. You're not a designer. You can't put a hammer to a nail. I built the circuit board. The graphical interface was stolen. So how come, 10 times in a day, I read Steve Jobs is a genius. What do you do?"
"Musicians play their instruments – I play the orchestra," is Jobs reply.
But with Fassbender in Jobs shoes and looking ever so suave in that iconic black turtleneck sweater, this Jobs is extremely charismatic. Who wouldn't fall for his magic?
It looks like Kate Winslet did. She plays Macintosh's ex-marketing chief Joanna Hoffman.
Steve Jobs opens in the US on Oct 9. Unfortunately for us, we need to wait until Jan 21 next year to catch Fassbender in action.
