The tenants downstairs (R21)
It's not a movie for the faint of heart.
The Tenants Downstairs plays out as a landlord (Simon Yam) spins a tale about the tenants of his building for the policeman interrogating him.
It's a mystery, but that's something you realise only halfway into the movie, which is when it starts to pick up the pace.
It's also a beautiful movie. The actors are a joy to watch, and the camera glides seamlessly from scene to scene. The sets are great too - each tenant's room is carefully decorated to reveal their characters.
It would almost be perfect, except that it's difficult to swallow.
The movie is littered with murder and sex, some of which is more graphic and gratuitous than many may be equipped to handle.
