Siti records top Tamil song
Malaysian singer Siti Nurhaliza Taruddin, 36, surprised her fans recently by rehearsing a Tamil song composed by well known Indian music director A R Rahman, reported Kosmo!
She had posted several videos on her Instagram account showing her rehearsing several verses of the song Nenjae Ezhu (Awake, my heart) from a 2013 Tamil movie Maryaan.
She recorded the song for Astro’s International Superstar programme, which will be aired soon, The Star Online reported.
Said Siti: “At first, I was not confident but the urge to try was rather strong.
"Working with A R Rahman does not come often in life. I admire his talents as a singer and composer.”
She admitted she had trouble with pronunciation in the beginning but managed to overcome it with some help.
Siti said she had asked a linguist to explain the meaning of the lyrics beforehand so she could have a feel of the song when recording.
