An accident involving four cars left two of them in flames on the PIE near Paya Lebar on Feb 27.

Responding to queries from The Straits Times, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the incident after the Paya Lebar Road exit towards Changi at about 10.15pm.

There were no reported injuries.

Tutor Andrew Goh was taking his nightly stroll nearby at about 10.20pm when he noticed a bright orange glow from the flyover above him.

The 35-year-old said he soon realised it was a large fire and he could hear loud popping sounds coming from the scene of the accident.

After a while, flashing lights that appeared to be from SCDF vehicles could be seen near the fire, said Mr Goh, adding that there was still traffic passing through on the expressway.

Two of the cars were involved in the fire, which was put out using a water jet, said SCDF.

Videos circulating on Telegram showed that a taxi was involved in the collision.
