Five people were conscious when taken to the hospital after a traffic pile-up involving five vehicles on the PIE on March 29.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the accident on the PIE towards Tuas before the Kallang Bahru exit, at around 3.30pm.

Four cars and one taxi were involved in the collision, said the police.

The following people were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital:

  • A 22-year-old female car passenger
  • A 70-year-old male taxi driver
  • Two taxi passengers - a 52-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman
  • A 27-year-old male car driver

Another three people were assessed for minor injuries and declined to be taken to the hospital, said SCDF.

A video of the accident posted on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page shows a yellow taxi colliding into the back of a white car, which is stopped behind a stationary grey car on the right-most lane of an expressway. Two other cars are also seen to stop abruptly right behind the taxi.

Police investigations are ongoing.
