A silver-haired Caucasian woman who calls herself angmoh.ahma has won the hearts of Singaporeans with a TikTok video subtitled "POV: When You Start Adapting to Singaporean Habits".

The 33-second video begins with the lady saying: "No-one told me about these Singaporean habits." They are:

  • "Chope seats with your things" - she places her handbag on an empty seat at a hawker centre before going to order her food
  • "Queue means this good" - meaning a queue indicates a food stall is good
  • "Good SG practice to clear your table" - she is told in the comments that this is a requirement, not a habit
  • "Let people overtake you on your right" - she moves to the left while on an escalator
  • "Behind is always the freshest" - she picks various supermarket items that are not displayed in the front of the shelves

Some commented that her behaviour had already made her Singaporean. "Uncle acknowledge her as Singaporean," echoed a Redditor.

A number of commenters warned her not to chope seats with her wallet, but several agreed that "behind is always the freshest" is something many Singaporeans would do.

"The last one is what a true blue auntie in SG would always do! U r learning fast," said a TikTok user.

"She's so wholesome and funny, especially her learning Hokkien video," said a Redditor, alluding to a clip where she learns how to order drinks in the dialect.

Based on earlier videos posted on her TikTok account, angmoh.ahma's real name is Jill. After years of living apart from her son and grandson, she decided the best way to reconnect with them was to fly here, even if it meant becoming Singaporean.

Her other posts show her eating durian, trying mala and even learning Singlish.
