Avoiding sleepiness and practising skills - top excuses bikers give M'sian police for speeding

This article is more than 12 months old

What excuses do bikers usually give Malaysian police when they're caught speeding?

That they're working on their biking skills, or trying to avoid sleepiness.

The excuses, however, don't work, Federal traffic police chief Senior Asst Comm (SAC) Datuk Mohd Fuad Abdul Latiff told The Star Online. He urged bikers to follow speed limits and ride safely.

The comments follow a fiery bike accident along Malaysia's Karak Highway on Sunday (Oct 19).

The accident, which involved two big bikes and a car, resulted in the death of both drivers. One of the riders was burnt to death in the crash.

SAC Mohd Fuad said that a biker's riding skills was not a "passport" to break the speed limit.

He also stressed that a biker who is sleepy "should not even be on the road".
