The body of a man in his 30s was found in the back of a white van parked at Sembawang Park yesterday afternoon.
Singapore Civil Defence Force officers had to force their way into the vehicle to retrieve the body.
A box and a green umbrella were seen lying next to the vehicle.
Cleaners in the area told The Straits Times that they did not notice anything amiss when they arrived in the morning.
A group of men who appeared to know the victim gathered near the body, but they declined to comment, The Straits Times reported on its website.
