Brawl at Bukit Panjang coffee shop leaves two injured

The scuffle broke out at a coffee shop at Block 257 Bangkit Road.

A brawl involving three men broke out at a Bukit Panjang coffee shop on the evening of August 2, with other patrons stepping in to break up the fight.

The incident occurred at 8.10pm at a coffee shop located at Block 257 Bangkit Road.

An Instagram video uploaded by @sgfollowsall shows two men - one in an orange shirt and another in a white shirt - on the ground, possibly having fallen due to the tussle.

A third man in a yellow shirt can also be seen picking up a red plastic chair and using it to strike the man in the white shirt, who is lying on the ground.

Even as by-standers attempt to hold him back, he rushes forward and kicks the man in the orange shirt in the face. Another man in green also repeatedly hits the man in orange with a chair.

At least three other middle-aged men, visibly agitated and shouting, can be seen standing nearby. Other patrons at the coffee shop quickly step in to intervene and break up the fight.

When reporters from Shin Min Daily News visited the coffee shop on August 3, employees said the eatery was crowded at the time, and it is believed that a diner called the police after witnessing the scuffle.

"They looked like they were drunk, which probably led to the fight," one western food stall employee said. He added that the police were at the scene for about an hour, and an ambulance was also dispatched.

Both the man in white and the man in orange appeared to be bleeding at the mouth. "The man in white is a regular here. They usually come at night."

A female worker at a fish soup stall said she had never before witnessed violence of this degree in her three years working at the coffee shop. "There are usually many older men drinking here, but I've never seen them get into fights."

In response to Shin Min's queries, the police confirmed that they received a report about the fight.

Two men, aged 57 and 65, sustained injuries but refused to be taken to the hospital. Investigations are ongoing.
