Brazil presidential candidate Campos dies in jet crash: report

Brazilian presidential candidate Eduardo Campos, a contender to unseat President Dilma Rousseff in elections in October, died on Wednesday when his private jet crashed in the city of Santos, media network Globo reported.

Mr Campos, a socialist who has been running third in the polls, and his running mate, ecologist Marina Silva, were on board a jet that crashed into a gymnasium in a residential area.

The plane broke into pieces and sparked a large fire, Globo reported on its news TV channel and websites.
