BREAKING: Wingsuiter Jeff Nebelkopf dies during a jump
Wingsuiter Jeff Nebelkopf died on Sunday from injuries sustained during an accident at Skydive Sebastian in Florida, US.
The full-time professional skydiver was well-known in the flying community for his pioneering work in wingsuits for skydiving and Base jumping, reported BSBD.
According to the Jeff Nebelkopf Memorial Page on Facebook, the wingsuit instructor experienced a malfunction on his main canopy, which resulted in a hard spin.
His automatic activation device (AAD) activated.
An entanglement happened with the reserve chute at a low altitude, "preventing him from potentially correcting the situation".
"Jeff spun into the ground at a high rate of speed. He was alive at the scene and did not make it," the Facebook page stated.
The page has been flooded with posts and photos by friends offering their condolences and sharing memories of the man.
