Car bursts into flames on CTE, causes congestion
A driver escaped unscathed after a car burst into flames along the CTE on Feb 23 evening.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted at about 7.40pm to the fire, which had occurred on the lane that leads to Seletar Expressway, after the Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 exit.
A video of the incident shared on Facebook shows flames leaping from the car's bonnet.
Congestion arising from the accident extended until Braddell Road, according to the Land Transport Authority's (LTA) traffic news X account.
SCDF officers extinguished the fire using a water jet.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
According to an annual statistics report released on Feb 13 by SCDF, there were 220 vehicle fires in 2024, up from 215 in 2023.
SCDF said the main causes of the fires were ignition sources, such as overheating and electrical faults in the engine compartment.
