Child left in car all day by father dies

The father of a 22-month-old child forgot he had left the child in the back seat of his car and went to work. 

The child was left in the SUV all day and died. 

Police in Atlanta, Georgia in the US, have since taken the father in to the police headquarters for questioning.

Neither the father nor the child has been named. The gender of the child was also not disclosed. 

The father was supposed to drop the child at a daycare centre Wednesday morning but went to work instead, and forgot the child was in the backseat of his SUV when he got out of the car. It wasn't until the end of the day, after he had driven off from his office did he realise the child was still in the backseat. 

He then immediately pulled into the carpark of a nearby mall and was seen frantically screaming for help. Unfortunately, the child was unresponsive and was declared dead by paramedics who arrived at the scene. 

Weather reports in the area said temperatures had reached low 30-something degree celsius.
