Concrete slabs fall off trailer at Upper Bukit Timah Road

A 54-year-old trailer driver is assisting the police with investigations for an accident that occurred along Upper Bukit Timah Road.

The incident happened on the evening of April 9 at the junction of Upper Bukit Timah Road and Gombak Avenue.

In a video shared on Telegram group sgsecret, several concrete slabs appear to have fallen off the trailer and ended up on the road. Workers in yellow vests are seen lining up traffic cones at the site of the accident.

With the three-lane road fully cordoned off, oncoming traffic seems to have come to a standstill.

Another video, uploaded on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page, shows the extent of the damage. It also shows images of the incident's aftermath, where the leftmost lane has opened to traffic, and a worker is seen holding up a "Go" sign to direct oncoming vehicles.

In response to queries from The Straits Times, the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the incident at 6.50pm. SCDF said its assistance was not required.

The police said that the male driver is currently helping with ongoing investigations.

This is the latest accident involving a trailer in recent months. A previous incident that went viral on social media occurred on March 19, when a prefabricated concrete block used in the construction of public housing fell off a trailer and onto the road in Tuas.
