Driver who hit pedestrians says truck was 'possessed'
Here's a novel excuse for a traffic accident: Blaming it on supernatural powers controlling your vehicle.
That's what one guy in Bellingham, Washington, did.
Dustin Frederick Brown hit four pedestrians early on the morning of May 26, hours after texting his friends to say he was too drunk to drive. One pedestrian, a 37-year-old man, was killed.
But the Associated Press reports that when Brown spoke to a detective after the accident, he said the truck he was driving was "possessed" and that it had taken him on "an amusement ride from hell".
In case you were wondering, the truck was a Ford F-350.
The facts, however, speak for themselves.
According to recently-released records of the accident, Brown, 28, had asked friends whether he could stay over at their houses, because he couldn't drive home.
A breathalyser test showed that he had three times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.
Just a guess, but we don't think the judge is going to go for the "ghost took over my truck" defence ...
