Facebook may be banned China, but that hasn't stopped the company from trying to make inroads into the country.

Forbes quotes as saying that the tech giant has signed a three-year lease for an 800 sq m office in Beijing's central business district.

Bloomberg has confirmed the news, quoting people familiar with the matter.

According to Forbes, a China-based Facebook team would most likely focus on sales, though they may also soon start exploring the launch of a China-based site.

Both Facebook and Twitter were blocked in China in 2009.
