Facebook's IQ just went up thanks to new member Stephen Hawking
Listen up, science geeks - Stephen Hawking's officially on Facebook.
After joining the social media website on Oct 7, the theoretical physicist with the robotic voice finally made his maiden post on Friday:
Hawking sure is popular too, with over 1.4 million followers liking his page, which is also maintained in part by his team. Posts from the good doctor himself are signed off with his initials, SH.
Since then, Hawking - who suffers from a motor neurone disease similar to ALS that has left him paralysed - has uploaded a video of his ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Well, sort of, since he gets his three children to take his place because of a bout of pneumonia that he had last year.
And proving the old adage that it's better late than never, the 72-year-old used his Facebook account to share his thoughts on the second Starmus festival that took place last month in Tenerife, Spain.
So if you're looking for intellectual musings on our existence and the universe to start your day, you know who to add as a friend.
