Farewell, and hello: TNP's bold journalism will now be brought under a refreshed Stomp
TNP will continue to live on in Stomp as a dedicated section featuring viral happenings, entertainment buzz, lifestyle trends, sports highlights and news features.
Introducing the new Stomp - a fusion of The New Paper's bold journalism with Stomp's community heartbeat and digital reach.
From Oct 30, TNP becomes part of Stomp, bringing readers a re-imagined experience that is bold, relatable, and plugged into everyday conversations and concerns.
With TNP launched in 1988 and Stomp in 2006, this marks the next step in SPH Media's ongoing effort to refresh its digital products, one that brings together two trusted brands into a single, modern platform.

"It is timely for us to reshape them to better resonate with our younger audience and reach out to newer readers," said SPH Media.
"The refreshed Stomp harnesses Stomp's strong digital reach and community-driven content, and TNP's editorial credibility and heritage in quality and bold journalism, and delivers a richer and more engaging experience for our audiences."
SPH Media added that the new Stomp's refreshed format will appeal to a new generation, while continuing to serve loyal readers. It builds on combined strengths to create something "stronger, yet familiar".
Real. Vocal. Impactful.
Leading this initiative is Joy Fang, Editor of Stomp and The New Paper.

In her personal note, Joy wrote that while both brands were products of their eras, the qualities that made them special remain vital today.
"It's not about losing either TNP or Stomp," she said. "It's about coming together and keeping alive what made them great - the grit, the audacity, the sharp instincts - and carrying that forward into something new."
The spirit of these icons, she added, should never fade. Joy, who has spent over 16 years in the industry, with stints at commuter paper My Paper and Today, said the new Stomp carries that same essence, reflected in its new tagline: Real. Vocal. Impactful.
Exciting new features
The refreshed site will feature the TNP News section - your go-to for stories that hit home: viral happenings, lifestyle trends, entertainment buzz and sports highlights, not to mention in-depth news features.

Meanwhile, the new Deep Dive section focuses on thoughtful storytelling through explainers, profiles and community pieces that explore the issues shaping everyday life with the same journalistic rigour that defined TNP.
And fret not - Stomp's signature content featuring contributions from loyal Stompers isn't going anywhere. The beloved Singapore Seen label makes a comeback, while Stomping Ground continues to spotlight readers' opinions. A new Hot Takes section also gives our journalists a space to showcase their perspectives.
Other new features include in-article polls, an AI-powered summariser, and an ICYMI (in case you missed it) bar showcasing top-performing stories.
The reactions and comment functions will remain, ensuring our readers' voices and preferences continue to be at the heart of Stomp.
Across social platforms like Instagram and TikTok, expect a fresh look, more original content and a focus on the stories that matter to a younger, always-on audience.
"We thank our loyal readers of TNP for their support over the years, and look forward to welcoming them to Stomp, where they can continue to enjoy the stories, insights and distinctive perspectives they know and trust," said SPH Media.
"This is the beginning of a new chapter we get to write with you," added Joy. "We will never forget what made both TNP and Stomp so special - and with your voices alongside ours, we'll create something even stronger."

Here is Joy's personal note in full:
Like many of you, I grew up with The New Paper (TNP).
I still remember rushing to the newsstand as a teenager, eager to grab my copy - drawn in by its bold covers, dramatic headlines and gritty storytelling that was impossible to ignore. In many ways, TNP shaped my own journey into journalism. It embodied dogged reporting at its best, powered by a fearless newsroom that never shied away from telling the story as it was.
Years later, another icon emerged and captured the pulse of its time: Stomp.
Marketed as "driven by readers for readers," it broke new ground with bold ideas and an instinct for getting people talking. So impactful was its presence that it became part of our everyday vocabulary. Love it or loathe it, you couldn't deny its influence.
But times change - and so must we. TNP, launched in 1988, and Stomp, launched in 2006, were both products of their eras. Today's readers are more diverse, digitally savvy and expect news that is faster, sharper, and deeply relatable.
That doesn't mean the spirit of these icons should fade away. The qualities they embodied - fearless journalism, an eye for detail, bold storytelling, and a finger on the pulse of what gets people talking - remain just as vital today.
And that's why this transformation matters. It's not about losing either TNP or Stomp. It's about coming together and keeping alive the things that made them great - the grit, the audacity, the sharp instincts - and carrying that forward into something new.
It's about continuity, and strength, evolving with today's readers by staying relevant and relatable, yet true to what made them who they are.
Bringing the best of both worlds
We're carrying forward TNP's legacy of bold journalism with a dedicated TNP News section on Stomp - covering viral happenings, lifestyle trends, entertainment buzz, and sports highlights that you love, not to mention in-depth news features.
For deeper storytelling, our new Deep Dive section will feature explainers, profiles, and community stories that tackle current issues with the same persistence and rigour TNP was known for.
At the same time, we're keeping what makes Stomp unique - contributions from loyal Stompers - and reviving the Singapore Seen label. You can share your views in Stomping Ground, while our journalists add their perspectives in Hot Takes.
Across our social platforms, especially Instagram and TikTok, you can expect a fresh look with more original and youth-focused content.
There'll be exciting new features on the website, such as in-article polls, an AI summariser, and an ICYMI bar showcasing top-performing stories. Our reactions and comments functions will stay, ensuring your voices and preferences remain at the heart of what we do.
Looking ahead
Real. Vocal. Impactful.
Our new tagline reflects what it is that we're trying to do - building a platform that still feels like home, but with a fresh spark: shaped by the community, told with boldness, and carried with trust.
This is the beginning of a new chapter we get to write with you. We will never forget what made both TNP and Stomp so special - and with your voices alongside ours, we'll create something even stronger. I'm deeply grateful for your support, and excited to share this journey with you.
