Filipinos have come out to show their "disgust" for the nurse who made offensive anti-Singaporean comments on Facebook, which went viral last weekend.

Mr Ello Ed Mundsel Bello has been fired by Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH).

TTSH said in a press release on Friday that Mr Bello admitted to posting three offensive posts that touched on race and religion in 2014.

In a Facebook group called 'Petition to deport Edz Ello the Filipino', a number of Filipinos (some of whom do not live or work in Singapore) have criticised the actions of their fellow citizen.

Some have even expressed sympathy for Singaporeans affected by Mr Bello's online rants.

One thought that Mr Bello deserved to be deported back to his home in the Philippines.

Ms Emily Comombo Mariana apologised to Singaporeans for the "hurt and damage" that Mr Bello might have caused.

She also called for Singaporeans to "forgive and move on" and for the "hate talks" to stop.

Mr Leonard Garcia also apologised to Singapore on behalf of all Filipinos.
