Gun-toting cabby robs tourists of $117
He makes a living ferrying people around.
But last week, a taxi driver in Bangkok staged a hold-up, using a fake handgun to rob two American tourists of 3,000 baht (S$117).
On Aug 5, the Americans reported to the police that they were robbed at gunpoint by their taxi driver in downtown Bangkok.
They were then ordered out of the taxi, the Chiangrai Times reported.
After studying CCTV footage, police identified the suspect as Attanop Kongsaengkham, 30, said Police Lieutenant Colonel Thanet Meethong, an officer at Lumpini Police Station.
Committed not one but two crimes
He was caught in front of an apartment building.
He confessed to the crime but said he used a fake handgun, which police later found during a search of his room.
The Bangkok Post reported that he had allegedly confessed to another hold-up.
