Heading to Chinatown this Saturday? Take note of diversions due to CNY light-up

Certain roads in the Chinatown area will be closed on Saturday (Jan 31) for an official light-up ceremony for Chinese New Year.

Bus services in the area will be diverted from 2pm to 11pm​.

Fifteen SBS Transit bus services – 2, 12, 33, 54, 63, 80, 124, 143, 145, 147, 166, 197, CT8, CT18 and CT28 – will be affected by this, reported The Straits Times​.

Instead of the usual routes, the services will skip eight bus stops along Eu Tong Sen Street, New Bridge Road, Outram Road and Upper Cross Street.

The three Chinatown Direct bus services – CT8, CT18 and CT28 – will be extended that evening until 12.30am, with the last bus departing from the bus stop along Eu Tong Sen Street, after Hospital Drive.

Train services on the North East Line and Downtown Line will also be extended by half an hour that day.

Services on the Punggol and Sengkang LRT systems will be extended to coincide with the last train arrivals on the North East Line.

Yellow area: Other road closures in place from 6pm to midnight

There will be road closures in place at certain times of the day in the Chinatown area in the lead up to the Chinese New Year celebrations.
